Ingredients

2 cups elbow macaroni

1 pound chicken breast, diced

1 tablespoon honey

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

4 tablespoons butter

4 tablespoons all-purpose flour

3 cups whole milk

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Salt to taste

Fresh parsley or chives, for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Pasta:

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

      Prepare the Chicken:

In a medium bowl, mix the diced chicken with honey, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt. Ensure the chicken is evenly coated.

          Cook the Chicken:

In a large skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of olive oil. Once hot, add the honey pepper chicken and cook for about 7-10 minutes or until cooked through and golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

              Make the Cheese Sauce:

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden. Gradually add the whole milk, whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Continue cooking until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

                  Add the Cheeses:

Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses until melted and smooth. Add smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), and salt to taste.

                      Combine:

Add the cooked macaroni and the honey pepper chicken to the cheese sauce. Stir until all the macaroni is evenly coated and the chicken is distributed throughout.

                          Bake (optional):

For an extra touch, you can transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish, top with additional cheese, and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes until bubbly and slightly golden on top.

                              Garnish:

Once out of the oven (or from the stove), garnish with freshly chopped parsley or chives before serving.
