Ingredients

For the Cake:

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup sour cream

1 cup fresh peaches, diced

1 cup fresh blackberries

For the Topping:

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 cup butter, melted

1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan or a square baking dish.

    Prepare the Cake Batter:

      - In a large mixing bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.

        - Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

          - In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

            - Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with sour cream, and mix just until combined.

              - Gently fold in the diced peaches and blackberries until evenly distributed.

                Make the Topping:

                  - In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and melted butter. Stir until crumbly. If desired, mix in the chopped nuts.

                    Assemble the Cake:

                      - Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.

                        - Sprinkle the topping mixture generously over the batter.

                          Bake the Cake:

                            - Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

                              - If the top begins to brown too quickly, loosely cover it with aluminum foil midway through baking.

                                Cool and Serve:

                                  - Once baked, let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

                                    - Slice and serve warm or at room temperature, possibly with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat!
