S'mores have become an iconic symbol of outdoor gatherings and childhood memories. Originating in the United States, the traditional s'mores consist of three simple components: graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows. The process is straightforward yet magical; a marshmallow is roasted over an open flame until it becomes soft and gooey, then sandwiched between two pieces of graham cracker along with a piece of chocolate. The heat from the marshmallow melts the chocolate, creating a satisfying treat that is both simple and indulgent.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

1 cup mini marshmallows

1 cup graham cracker crumbs

Extra chocolate chips and marshmallows for topping

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Fold in the chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, and graham cracker crumbs until evenly distributed.

Pour the cookie dough into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Press the extra chocolate chips and marshmallows into the top for a decorative touch.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean (a few crumbs are okay).

Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing into squares.
